    Default XD40 Service conversion kits

In the near future, I'm going to be purchasing an XD as my first handgun (finally). I've been waffling on caliber, and learned last night that EFK Firedragon makes conversion barrels for the XD 40 S&W.

My question is whether anyone here has any experience with the 9mm conversion barrel specifically. I know that the .357 Sig conversion is no problem, but am curious about the 9mm. I've read where some people say the 9mm is ok and other say to be careful.. however I haven't seen any first hand experience with it. Thoughts?

You'd be better off searching and posting at the xdtalk forums.

I had an XD-40 as my first gun and regret selling it. It's a fine machine.

I was interested in the 9mm conversion and I was told about this manufacturer and bookmarked it

Read the notes at the bottom

You'd want to get 9mm mags though in addition to the 9mm conversion barrel.

Sorry but that's all the info I got.

Thanks for the advice. I signed up over there and they had a lot of information on this type of thing.

For anyone that's interested, there were a couple of guys over there that used the EFK conversion barrel and there were a few FTE's. This is mostly due to the fixed extractor in the XD's that when extracting very little pressure is exerted on the smaller 9mm case.

It would seem to me that for paper punching at the range, the 9mm barrel would probably be a good financial decision, however for defense probably not so much.
