    Default It's Not Much But...

Well...after 27 years I finally went and bought an AK (WASR 10). I've been wanting one for a long, long time and I thought it was finally the time to get one. So it's not pretty, but it's mine and I love it already though I haven't been able to find anywhere around here to shoot it.

I am in the process of refinishing the stocks right now and they're looking pretty good...I'll post pics of it when I'm done.

    Not so pretty my ass.
    That's a sweet AK, brother.
I like it as is. It has character, and looks battle tested.
Thats what an AK should look like.
Congrats on the buy. Good luck.

It gets me all worked up just looking at it!

And for anyone who says AK's aren't accurate. There was a kid at the range today shootng his AK. We had the gong set up as 200 yards and he was consistantly drilling that thing at 200 yards. I know it's not a sniper rifle, but I'd say that's not too shabby.

It's new (still had cosmoline in some areas) but isn't what you would consider "pretty"....but it is an awesome looking gun. I figure, you don't buy an AK for it's wonderful finish and fine fit...you buy one because of what they mean...their history...and for that, the gun is awesome and I am not sorry for having bought it. I almost bought one with plastic stocks on it...I was this close...but then suddenly I thought to myself how an AK should look like this...and not have plastic stocks right off the showroom rack. I am glad I went this way.

Someone I work with told me they (AK's) are "crappy looking"...apparently he just doesn't understand.

You made a good choice my friend. I have a Yugo underfold (natural wood) and it is my favorite.
Don't forget to shoot the shit out of it, that's really what they are made for.
    Have fun.....

Nothing wrong with an AK. I love my Chicom underfolder, and it takes any abuse you want to give it. Enjoy it.

In a SHTF situation, I would definitely pick up one of mine. There is just something about knowing that you could do anything to it and have it still fire. My AR is my prom queen but my AK is my little nasty girl.
