I think my next buy could be this http://www.sigarms.com/Products/Show...&productid=114
Dose any one have, held one, shot one? I know the Sig quality and hope it stands true in this rifle i currently have a Sig P220 Carry and hope it shoots as well as this one.
Comments and advice welcome

Re: SIG 556
hit the sig forums, lots of bad reports, non-milspec rail size, no irons, annoyances out the wazoo.
see if you can shoot one first."Oderint Dum Metuant" - BMFH

Re: SIG 556
I bought one a couple weeks ago for my cousin at Cabela's, I have not shot it. The fit and finish is excellent- action very nice. But again I have not shot it. I'll giveya a first hand report after I give it to him at the Carlisle, Pa game lands Apr.14and I get back to Pittsburgh the 15. You might not find one by then. But we plan on running 2-300rnds through it weather permitting .
Again I might not have fired it but my paws have been all over it

Re: SIG 556
The 55X series is one heck of a rifle. Sort of a refined AK.
However, I can't believe they put an AR style telestock on that rifle. What were they thinking?
JayBell's report of issues doesn't surprise me. They initially geeked up their 1911 too.

Re: SIG 556
apparently tho, you can fix the Telestock issue by installing an ACE sidefolder:-)
I dunno on the AR stock craze, its on every dang gun now, its silly.
heres a pic of the ACE modular sidefolder on the SIG....this looks MUCH BETTER.
link for ACE stocks, I have one on my 5.45 AK, its rock solid.

Re: SIG 556
Why are we allowed to purchase the 556 and not the 550?

Re: SIG 556
While i dont like the looks of the folding stocks, that stock on the sig is really nice.

Re: SIG 556
because the Sig 556 is not a machinegun, the Sig 550/551 series are select fire receiver designs, aka machineguns.
machineguns made by foreign countries have been unimportable (for civilians) to the US since 1968, post 68 imported MGs owned by civilians are all conversions, and that stopped in 1986.
plus add on the import laws for semis, etc, they redesigned the sig556 to meet certain parts and features criteria along with making usre its not a MG"Oderint Dum Metuant" - BMFH
