    Default Going Camping

I am going camping with the family ( kids included ) in our Popup. If I bring my gun how do I secure it at night. Now, I don't mean I do not know how to store it safely or lock it up. I was wondering what other campers do. I don't want it under my pillow and I have to worry about the kids. If I lock it and stow it, getting to it would be a problem. Do you bring a lock box, use a cable lock, etc...

Get a locked box with cable that locks around the base of the seat.
They are about $30, FAA aproved, and work great.
They are good for transportation and easy moved for night time.

Make sure you're allowed to have a handgun in the campgrounds. Aren't there laws against them on federal lands?

Depends on who owns the campground. At a national level, the only one that you have to be concerned with is National Parks which completely ban all firearms. BLM and US Forest Service lands are usually pretty reasonable, as most of them allow hunting on their lands.

Yeah, I saw this on the other new post just after I entered mine. This looks like a great peice of equipment and I will be getting one. So I am allowed to lock my gun in this case and leave it secured in my vehicle if I am not near it? (aside from camping)

Nothing in the regs that dis-allows (?) it, unless you don't have a LTCF, then you can't have it in the vehicle (concealed).

It's more of piece-of-mind......less chance of being stolen if it's attached to the vehicle.

I keep mine in a concealed carry waist bag in bed with me at night. If we all go to the wash house I secure it in my vehicle. I beilieve that PA doesn't allow carry in state parks!
