    Default Funny/Serious Event Last Night

Last night at about 4:15am I woke up to take a piss. Concluding that piss and on the way back to the bedroom I hear this very loud bang, and another loud bang. Not like a gun shot or anything, but like someone banging on a Door or something to that nature. So By this time in back in the room and now i have grabbed the FN and a tac light, proceeded to search the apartment in a Tshirt and shorts. So i go to the front door to check and see if anything was going on outside FN still in hand, I open the door and see my neighbor who is about 38-40ish and a Iraq Veteran and whos Apartment door is parallel to mine and he is standing there in a tshirt and boxers with a NICE Kimber Desert Warrior some sort of streamlight rail light and laser (needless to to say it was properly outfitted lol) He asked me if I herd that noise and i said I did and thats why I came out after I cleared my apartment. So as we are talking about what happend ect ect. he says he had already called the Police since he thought someone was trying to get in, more on that in a second. At that point I think great these cops are going to show up and here we are with two guns that are out in the open and not holstered...bracing for the worst the cops actually showed up pretty quick i would say within 7-10 min. In that time his wife brought him down some shorts and she was obliviously scared to death. When the 2 cops arrived we were standing on our stoop kind of landing thing that leads to our 2 apartment doors, he announced we were armed but we were the tenets, and the two cops just told us (very nicely BTW) to turn around and open our doors and place the two weapons inside of the door on the ground, we did. So the cops come up and get our stories and took a look around and upon further inspection on my neighbors door there was a big dent in it that wasnt there when i came home that evening around 9pm. It looked like it had been hit with something. The cops talk to us for a while asking random questions ect ect. Then the one officer who wasnt asking questions but standing by "looking" around like to find something wrong like cops do, he says Hey to me and i look over and answer yes, he says what kind of firearm is that? I had a internal moment thinking oh man whats he asking these questions for now ect. I told him it was a FN 9mm. He said he didnt think they sold firearms to citizens, and I said they do have done so for some years. He asks the same question to my neighbor who replied Kimber .45. He said atleast you both brought the right tools to fight, we all shared a laugh and they took a picture of the damage to the front of his door and said if we need anything else to call again, and they left. So now its like 5:00am and we chatted some more and said he will give me a copy of the report tommarrow in case i find anything damaged later, rear door, windows ect. I said that would be great and we reentered and after calming down a bit more and talking to the GF about what just happened she was scared to death also, went back to sleep for another 2 hours.

Just thought I would share my experience. Although tonight when i get this report im going to show the neighbor all the window and door alarms we have so that if anything is breached we will know, and hopefully he can implement something like that in his apartment to give a little more security.

That's a pretty funny story though I'd be worried about what the whole cause of the incident was about. Good to hear you have vigiliant neighbors though.

Niced to here stories about properly equipped citizens and polite LEO's. Glad all is well. Willing to bet it was just druggies looking for an easy in to score some cash or drugs. I lived H-burg for a few years myself before moving to Dover.

Great story, and +1 on the alarms. I have $25 worth of walmart bought alarms on my door and 2 windows. Window ones were $10, simple 2 piece magnetic things with 180db tone when they're separated. Door one was $15, another magnetic, 180db deal but with a 4 digit programmable code.
Please help my Baby Kitties and I avoid being homeless.

I think thats what were going to speculate on this evening. Over some beer and monday night football. Also our front doors are very very well lit so anyone up there is subject to being seen by anyone walking by. Im also going to try to get some TRIGGER TIME on that Kimber Desert Warrior!!!!!
