    Default AR AMMO

Since building my 1st AR I've been running xm193 ammo through it.I was wondering if anybody here has been using any of the cheaper import ammo? What kind of accuracy to expect and any issues with clean up ?

I use wolf military classic. No issues with it being dirty as some on the forum have had. Accuracy isn't majorly diminished by using it either. Don't get me wrong, it isn't precision ammo, but I hit what I'm aiming at out to 200 yards. The steel casings have given me 0 problems to date. AIM surplus runs very good deals on this when they have it in stock.

FYI I use the polymer coated steel cased ammo, NOT the lacquer coated stuff.

    Hope this helps.

I plink with wolf - both black box and MC. It shoots good enough for plinking. Usually about 3" groups or so.

For me, it is dirtier than xm193 - but with a chrome lined barrel / chamber, it is still easy to clean up. One area to watch / clean well is the firing pin / bolt. I get a lot of red goop build up from the primer sealer used on the wolf ammo.

Also note that wolf is much lower powered than xm193 so if you sight in with the xm193 used for shtf, your point of impact (POI) will be different than with the xm193 - the wolf will usually shoot a little lower 1-2".

If you want to stay brass, Centurian is cheaper and probably more accurate. They have had problems with QC a couple times, though. Check your ammo and if anything's off they'll replace it.

    Never shot it myself.

Ive shot TONS of Wolf/Bear whatever without issue.

Your not gonna get sub-moa groups with it, but if your not shooting those now then I dont see the downside. I shoot CMP with guys that rock out scores in the 460+ range consistantly with Wolf ammo.
Ive seen guys at CMP shoot 2 inch groups in the X ring with Wolf shooting with irons.

I took my Bushmaster to work yesterday.........and snuck in some range time. I fired six 30rd mags loaded with Wolf MC and had zero issues. No malfunctions, not failures to feed, fire or extract. I followed those up with five 20rd mags of handloaded brass cased ammo because I wanted to recycle the brass. For plinking, range work, drills, etc........nothing wrong with Wolf MC.
