Default Dallas Green (Phillies World Series Mngr) jumps on the "ban" wagon

Not really sure if this belonged here, or in National or General. Mods, feels free to relocate if appropriate.

Seems Dallas Green Manager of the 1980 Phillies World Series team has seen fit to jump on the "ban" wagon over the Arizona shooting spree that caused the death of his Granddaughter.

The following is a verbatim transcription of Green's comments as reported in my two local papers today, Green was speaking from Phillies Spring Training Camp in Clearwater Fla.

" You would hope that there would be some understanding that there are crazies in this world and that I guess the one thing I cant get through my mind, even though Im a hunter and I love to shoot and I love to have my guns ( bolded by me, to highlight the typical response of your average run of the mill, dyed in the wool FUDD). I dont have a Glock or whatever it is or a magazine with 33 bullets in it" Green said. " That doesnt make sense for me to be able to sell those kind of things. I guess I never thought about it until this happened and what reason is there to have those kind of guns other then to kill people." " I just dont understand that "

Another almost identical article appeared in the other local paper that differed slightly, in saying that Green was quoted saying something about the " need for automatic weapons " which clearly the Glock pistol is not.

I called the particular paper on it, spoke to the managing editor about it, who pawned it off as " Mr Greens comments " that they could not alter, even if for accuracy, although he couldnt explain why the " automatic weapons " quote appeared in his papers version of the story and not the virtually identical story from the same source in the other local paper.

However, some good may come of the call anyway. I have been wrangling for some time to get a meeting with the Editorial Board and staff over their one sided, slanted, ignorant reporting of so called " facts" anytime they print a firearms related article and he agreed he thought it was a good idea, claimed they DO want to get their stories as accurate as possible and agreed to set up the meeting in the near future. So we shall see.
