    Default Newest taser video..

I must say this one seems pretty uncalled for, I usually feel most taser videos are justified, such as the last one that was posted.. But this cop was way out of line, he escalated that situation IMO

wish he didnt start playing the race card though

too often the taser is used when it shouldn't be. I just read a story where police, entering an incorrect house tasered a deaf guy who was in his bath tub for not complying with commands.

Standing in a towel in his hallway, saying that he is deaf while pointing at his ear. The police were responding to a shots fired call and his address was given.

Still WTF!!?!?!??! a little over zelous! Where is he hiding the gun and if he was able to hide the gun I want to know what kind of deep cover holster he was using!

    A little description would help

    Is this:
    The pregnant motorist?
The deaf homeowner who police broke into his house?
    The Utah motorist?
The guy who moved to slow?

    Or and older one?

Too bad the passenger wasn't armed.

I agree, I also think that tasers are way over used. Since tasers are "less lethal" and therefore "safer" it seems like too many LEOs are using that as an excuse to use them whenever they please.

What further irritates me is when the LEO then screams commands at the tasered individual, who is clearly unable to comply because he/she is involuntarally flopping around like a fish out of water, and then uses this "non-compliance" as justification to pump said individual with another round of juice.

When is it appropriate to use a taser? The way it has been explained to me, tasers are supposed to be applicable only in situations where lethal force would otherwise be justified. Is this true, or do most departments rarely impose any kind of guidelines for taser use?

I could see using a taser as your first line of less lethal force on a side of a highway, because pepperspray or hands on could very easily result in someone in the traffic lanes. But this guy just wasnt combative at all, the officer was doing all the yelling.

Sad part is tasers are a great tool for in the officers toolbox when used correctly, they can save lives in alot of cases. But if they keep using them anytime someone asks a question they are gonna get outlawed

Don't really think he (or was it she) was playing the race card...s/he just seemed really upset and didn't understand WHY the cop did what he did, and was grasping at any possible explanation as to the why. If I were Black and a white officer pulled me over for going 5 over the speed limit then tasered me at the least provocation, I don't think assuming it was due to racism would be unreasonable.

From what I've gathered talking to local officers who carry Tazers it's around the same level of force as OC spray. Bellow the ASP/PR24 and obviously their sidearm. Any officers care to chime in and I am not 100% but will follow up when I run into one of our guys that has a min to chat.
