new to PA
Ok so I have a lic for a pistol in teh state of NY. I spoke to the local sheriff and was explained how to get a carry lic seemed very easy and that it could be done right there and quickly.
Now my issue is how do I register the gun in PA (or do I) and how do I get it there?

Re: new to PA
There's no GUN REGISTRATION in PA.... You bring it in legally, the gun and ammo in separate locations in your vehicle.

Re: new to PA
There is no gun registry in PA so you can't register it. Bring it in unloaded and the ammo can't be in the same container/ compartment. In other words if you have a bag with multiple compartments the ammo must be in a different compartment of the bag. Once you have a PA LTCF ( License to carry a firearm) you can carry. You don't need to have the firearm with you to get a LTCF as your firearms are not listed on it. Accually don't bring it with you unless your headed for a range or your new home if your moving to PA. Wait until you get the LTCF. PA doesn't recognize a NY permit and vs a vs.
Wait if you NY Lic. is a carry permit you can transport it in your car.

Re: new to PA
wish in NY it is basically impossible to get a carry permit. You should see teh requirements.
also to buy a gun in NY pistol you need to do the following
-get a lic takes 6 months or more
-buy a pistol
-get form from poice station (one location all the way out east)
-bring to gun shop to get filled out
-bring form to police office
-pick up gun
-then bring gun to the police station so they can check to see that everything matches..
Also in PA besides courts, schools is a lic you get from Bucks county sheriff good anywhere in the state? Can I carry in Philly for instance?

Re: new to PA
With your PA LTCF you can carry in Philly.
Read the stickies at the top of this forum.
If you have a PA drivers lic you can walk into a gun store. fill out the paper work, pass PICS, pay the FFL and walk out with the firearm of you choice. At my local gun shop they are calling in PICS while I do the 4473 and it's done before I finish the form. There are two forms for a pistol. The paper work just take another minute or two.
