Default Anyone make a non magnifying scope?

I am looking for a sight for a couple of .22 pistols. I have an astigmatism that makes red dots look like a red football or red squashed spider, and green is even worse! I suppose I could spend several thousand dollars to get my eyes fixed, in hopes that maybe I could see a red dot easier, but in the meantime, does anyone know of an old fashioned cross hair type scope that does not have magnification? I've tried a 2x Leupold that came with a Redhawk I bought, and that was okay, but not very fast on target acquisition.

    Thanks.

I checked with them, and they don't have anything in the store that is not illuminated. I couldn't find anything on the website either.

Ever think of just using a ghost sight?

Just mount a piece of PVC tube on the gun. Add your own cross hairs.

    Seriously, I don;t know.

Are you sure your astigmatism is the problem? I have severe astigmatism in my dominant eye and red dots work fine for me.

What I'm looking to verify is that you are using the red dot properly.

Look through a red dot sight.
Are you focusing on the target?
Are you using both eyes? IE: both eyes open.

If you focus on the dot (natural reaction when first trying a red dot) it will be blurred, ovaled, double, etc. You must focus on the target. Using one eye only tends to exasperate the tendency to focus on the dot and doesn't benefit the sighting system anyway.

If this is the case the best way to get "over" the problem is to practice a bit as follows:
Hold gun/scope in a low ready position. Focus on a target of some sort (spot on the wall, whatever) Bring the gun/scope up into your field of view while consciously keeping both eyes open and keeping your focus on the target. Let the dot just come into view.

That never occurred to me Rich, and of course, I could not recall. Probably I was squinting at the dot with one eye closed, as much as I try to shoot with both of them open. So I got out my rifle with the Aimpoint on it, and tried it both ways. Both eyes open is better. So maybe I will reconsider a red dot. I went to Cabela's and got some scope rings for an old Leupold I have and put it on one of the .22s. It remains to be seen how it will shoot, but I can tell you this - it is heavy! It is a 2x scope off a .44 mag too, so it really amplifies any wiggle. But hey, rings are cheaper than a decent red dot.

I think the Gil Hebard catalog still lists 1x and 1.5x scopes.

Yep, took a little while to get used to mine.
Once you get used to it, it is nice.

    The fox pics prove that!!!!!!!
