    Default Glock 20 Recoil Springs

A newbie to this forum, I'll apologize in advance if this topic as already been discussed...

Recently purchased a G20, my first 10mm. The factory recoil spring is 17 lbs.

I will be using DoubleTap Gold Dot 180 gr JHPs @ 1300 fps as my SD round.

I'm aware that 10mm loads vary greatly in energy, and therefore in wear and tear on the gun that fires them. I also know that Glock, and other manufacturers, must engineer a spring for the "middle of the road" value between the weakest and strongest loads.

I humbly ask you all for your opinions: For the ammunition mentioned above, is the factory spring sufficient? If not, with what should it be replaced?

    Thanks for responding!

    B.P.

They should be fine, but if you plan on doing alot of shooting I would replace with something heavier.Try Wolf replacement springs something around 20#.

B.P... First, let me be the first to welcome you to PAFOA. Not sure how long you have been "lurking" before registering, but I assure you this place is a wealth of information!

When it comes to your Glock I have an important suggestion.

Shoot it. Don't change anything. Just shoot it. When you are really concerned about it breaking shoot it some more. That is how it is with a Glock.

I spent a fortune making a race gun out of my G31. Lots of fun.

On the other hand my G27, G30 & G33 are stock and they work.

They go BANG every time I flip the switch. And I flip the switch a lot.

Shoot it B.P. It won't break.
