    Default Trading Sr1911 for a G19?

Im new to the community so thank you in advance for any insight...

Ive recently moved to PA and am interested in procuring my cc permit. Im considering trading my Ruger SR 1911 5" for a Gen4 19. I am more confident with the Glock and feel it may be more comfortable to carry... but I'm a big fan of the JMB design. Timeless and classic in a sense. Im worried I may regret parting with it though if I do trade I will be buying one again in the future.

I would like to keep both but my budget is tight and I can't justify spending the money. At this point I'm not collecting but rather filling a purpose of sport ajd protection.

So, in this regard, if I could trade evenly would you advise- yes/no.

Added info: I'm ambidextrous, Im also interested in starting IDPA if the opportunity arises.

If you get rid of the 1911, sometime down the road you'll wish you hadn't.

While I'll take a 1911, for the range, any day of the week over a Glock, for your situation I'd go with the Glock. When funds are tight you have to make sacrifices. Your self defense is important and if you are just getting the LTCF then maybe a simpler pistol for carrying is the way to go. You can always get another 1911 later. Be careful though, they tend to multiply quickly.

Welcome to Pa, OC the 1911 like a boss, its legal.

G19 is still too big for me to CC. You might want to consider a g26 or g27, maybe a sw shield or xds even.

I own both a 1911 and a G19, and if I were forced to get rid of one, it would be the G19.

Ironically I can conceal my 1911 easier with a cheapo blackhawk holster vs. a Galco holster for the G19. While 15+1 is appealing for obvious reasons, I'd still rather have my 7+1 of .45.

I'd say let the G19 go and shoot the 1911 until it is the gun you're most confident with. I agree with the others that you would eventually regret the loss of your 1911.

I carry both a 5" 1911 and a mid Glock. They both conceal just fine with the right holster (Crossbreed, crossbreed or crossbreed). Although you'd be happy with a Glock 19 and it would meet your criteria, you're going to regret giving up the 1911. Keep it and figure out how to buy a G19 later.

Bother are on the larger side for concealment so it's a wash.

The 5" gun will have an edge in IDPA and you can customize to your style easier than the Glock. Here's a quick hint.....an arched mainspring housing will make the 1911 have the same grip angle as the Glock.

Bother would make great OC or home defense weapons, though. I'd save up and buy the Glock. Nothing like having bother instead of just one.

BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.
