That*s awesome! I*ve been out west but never to hunt and it looks amazing

Got a doe in 2G Friday afternoon at 1:30 pm. Was leaving my stand and thought I*d still hunt back up my cabin. Got about 20 yards in and saw movement ahead of me. I eased down to 1 knee got the scope on her saw confirmed it wasn*t a spike and took the shot. She ran about 15 yards and dropped dead. I love the .243 Ruger compact.

Didn*t see 1 buck in daylight but got my first black bear and a doe so very happy.

I was on my way there the day after my hunt.
I got on 34 and was stopped by a trooper blocking the road. I'd guess 3 or 4 miles before the Saloon.
The wind I had during my hunt was every bit of 30mph and gusted higher.

A tractor trailer was blown over by a gust and the driver had to be life flighted out.
I was the first truck behind the trooper but after waiting a half hour, I turned and went back to Wheatland.
The next day at Super 8's continental breakfast, a guy there told me what happened.

Super 8 was clean. Nice place but my room was next to a truck stop parking lot and some of them idling was a bit more than "white noise". Not enough to wake me but if I stay there again, I'll request a room in the front of the building.

The farm I hunted was also southwest of Wheatland and took about 45 min to get there so may have been in the same general location of where you were.

    Good time.

Finally got to upload my deer from this year. Big bodied deer, nice little 5-pointer. Taken with a 70 yard off-hand shot from my T/C Contender handgun in 7-30 Waters.

LOL....I'll tell him when we get together for muzzeloader.

I don't know if I mentioned it before, but a big shout out to the two younger guys holding the legs of the deer. After I dressed my deer, they asked for my drag rope and started hauling out my deer!! Awesome young men!

I just got permission today to hunt a couple hundred acres farm not far from my place.
I need to go pick up the slip. Owner had red tags as well.
Might be the 20" Ithaca coming out to play.

I've got a few more tags left. Would like to get at least 1 maybe 2 more. What I did last year was use the last deer of the season for making snack sticks and different sausages. I'd like to do the same this year. Cameras have been showing inconsistent activity, so it's been hard to try to pattern them. Working nights and a long season starts to take a toll on you. Been pretty hard to go to bed at 9am and wake up at 2 pm to get to my spots.
