Glock barrel dinged
I dinged my G23 factory barrel. I dropped it (barrel, not the gun) from about 3' onto a worn cement/stone walking path. It must have landed on a sharp edge. Nicks and scrapes are fine, but I don't like the look of this and wanted to read a few of your opinions before I blow it off as normal wear and tear, or drop the $160 on a replacement OEM barrel. The 2nd image shows the distortion of the outer circumference at the 1 o'clock position.
I haven't fired any rounds through it since I dropped it. In the interim, I have a LWD barrel installed that I normally only use for reloads and range play.
I appreciate any feedback.
Thanks,
Giovanni

Re: Glock barrel dinged
It looks to me that the ding is more cosmetic than anything. I doubt there is any damage to the bore. Glocks have polygonal rifling and appear to be warped when they aren't. You could try Birchwood Casey's Super Black touch up pen. They have a flat and a gloss black, however if you are a perfectionist like me you have probably already priced new barrels. The touch up pen runs around 6 bucks. If you have to get it online order something with it cause shipping is a killer.

I wouldn't worry about this, looks like minor chip. It would piss me off, but I think it will shoot fine. It's a Glock, you could probably hit it with a hammer and it would be fine.

Re: Glock barrel dinged
The marking are cosmetic. It is a Glock, a weapon designed to run through hell and come out shooting. Touch up pen, make sure there are no burs to rub oon the slide. happy shooting.
Not to mention the weight of the barrel hitting concrete does not produce enough force to warp a barrel that thick.

Re: Glock barrel dinged
Roger that.
Yeah, I was pissed when it hit the deck. But I'm not all that concerned with cosmetics, just safety. There isn't any black finish left on the barrel, it's all polished off...so that's not a worry. I guess I'll feel better about it after a few hundred rounds.
Thanks.

Re: Glock barrel dinged
It's wear and tear on a combat weapon.
I love Glocks, but they're far from safe queens IMHO.
Roll with it and add some matching chips to the slide...
