    Default Rifles in your home.

    B"H

Guys you are awesome with your replies. They are so quick and full of information. Now I would like to know what is the law regarding rifles in your house. I mean issues like can you have a rifle with a full magazine inside it, lying in your house? etc.
Could some one send me one of those links you guys send me where there is just tons of information on the page.
    Thank You

As far as I know, you can have loaded guns in your house whether they are pistols, rifles or shotguns as long as you are legally allowed to own them. I have never been told different from anyone in this state.

Especially in a self defense situation, it would be pretty silly to not have an easily accessable gun (for you, not your kids) with a fully loaded magazine. I personally sleep with my G19 next to me with a full mag but no round in the chamber. I sleep like a log but I would hate to shoot my wall, or myself for that matter, in my sleep. Plus, to draw, rack the slide and acquire my target, it only takes about 1.5 seconds when I am fully awake. I cant imagine it taking much longer than that when waking up from a dad sleep

Your not gonna find much in writing about it since things that are legal usually aren't written as law. I'd say your best bet is to read, and reread the UFA.

Yeah me too , I never have a bullet in the barrel. why risk it? i say to myself. if i have to use it I need 1.2 seconds only to load , safety down and to shoot.
I am still wondering why would people carry a bullet in the barrel.

No law against keeping a loaded firearm in your home, rifle or pistol.

Now, "should you" is the question. If you have kids, think about how you're going to secure the weapon. If you do not have children, well, no problem.
If you drink booze and like to play with your firearms...well, that could be a problem.
Only you can answer the questions/comments above. No need to post your private thoughts here though...you've got to answer them for yourself and loved ones.

Now, in my situation...no kids, just my wife and I. I keep a loaded magazine close to the rifle...actually, one for an AR-15 and one for an AK type rifle. It only takes a second to slam the magazine home and charge the rifle. To me, the AK is fractionally quicker to load then the AR.

I do not keep any rounds chambered in any of my semi-auto pistols either, but the magazines are in the grip. Just my way of doing things...

The three revolvers stashed around are all loaded and ready to go.

That's for in the house. If i'm out and about, the pistols are charged...you might not have that 1.0-1.5 seconds to rack the slide.

All of my handguns are loaded+1.
Most of my rifles and shotguns are loaded+1.

I'm not going to be put at any dis-advantage.

A bullet in the barrel? You mean "a round in the chamber"?

There are some (myself included) who would ask why you wouldn't keep your defense firearms chambered.

But you would in the home? Not sure I see your reasoning.

No bullet in the barrel? Your gun is empty. Pull the trigger it goes click. Can you rack it with one hand? Your weak side hand? Always one in the pipe.
