Moving to PA from NC
Conceal Carry transfers over, can anyone fill me in on anything 'unusual' I should be prepared for when I move this fall?

There's nothing really "unusual" about PA's firearms laws...
We have no registration, so you can just bring your firearms up, and while your NC CCW is reciprocal, you are still going to want to apply for a PA LTCF from your local sheriff when you get here, so that you will be exempt from the Federal Gun Free School Zone act (I.e., carrying within 1,000 feet of a school)

Re: Moving to PA from NC
Depending on NC law, your NC may still be legal. Some states' licenses are no longer valid after you move from that state. Even if it does invalidate your NC license, a PA license is probably the easiest in the USA to get. There is no transfer of licenses between any states like there is for drivers licenses. You just have to apply for a new one at the Sheriff's office in the county you will reside in, except in Philly it will be with the Chief of Police..
Items you will want to read:

There is no registration of guns in PA. However any new purchases or transfers of "firearms" (handguns, SBS's and SBR's) require them to be lawfully transferred and are recorded(exceptions for transfers between spouses, children/parent and grandchildren/grandparents). There is no waiting period for any gun transfer, nor any permits needed. Long guns can be transferred privately without any paperwork just like selling a coffee table.Last edited by knight0334; May 2nd, 2009 at 12:43 PM.

My wife and I respectfully request that you bring our son and his wife with you. They live in Charlotte.
