Default Daytrip in PA? Need some help.

Two of my buddies and I were looking for a city or town (other than Scranton) to visit for the day. Here are some quick specs in what we were looking for.

    1-2 hrs away from Scranton.
    Not Philadelphia, something smaller.
Doesn't have to be in PA (sorry for the thread title)
Metropolitan Area with some stores and shit.
    Good food.
    Some cool things to do.

Basically we want to get the hell out of Scranton, but don't want to deal with a big city like Philadelphia. Something like Scranton, but not as shitty and more to do.

Something with a nice "downtown" to browse around and do some shopping (not in a gay way might I add). Maybe some coffee shops and cigar stores, also good food is a must. Something on the nice side.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. If you think this sounds like your city, please speak up. My only thoughts so far are Jim Thorpe (anything to do?) Binghamton NY, Ithaca NY.

Ill throw some rep your way for some good ideas.

    New Hope, Pa http://www.newhopepa.com/

I've only been there once but it kind of reminded me of Main Street in Manayunk (Philadelphia)

You realize just the word "shopping" puts your testosterone level in doubt.

Jim Thorpe has their fall train rides, mountain biking, paintball and white water rafting.

Well if no one else will, I'll say it. Harrisburg. On the 22 Corridor you got Gander Mountain, and Dicks, almost next door to each other, cross town is Bass Pro, and I think there are some other stores, my wife uses. 3rd Street in Harrisburg Proper has the row, where there are all kinds of eateries, catering to different tastes.

Binghamton is kind of depressed, but Ithaca's a great city. Obviously the guns will have to stay at home. Blue Ball, Bird-in-hand and that whole area of Lancaster County is a great place to spend the day if you're not afraid of a little PA culture. Take a horse and buggy ride, walk through a working Amish farm and ride the Strasburg RR. If you're not careful, you might learn a thing or two about a very misunderstood part of our Commonwealth's population. It also has tons of shopping, some places you'll find priced for the locals, others for tourists, but there's stuff there you'd have a hard time finding anywhere else in the state as well as some great places to eat.
You are a straight white man. You don't get to be the victim, sweetie.
