Good and Bad on the front line
Took my wife to the Sheriff's office in my County in PA today to get her PERMIT to CARRY.
As soon as you get inside you must go through a metal detector. I was CCing my Sig and knew I was going to have to have it put into the safe in the office. I stood in the archway of the metal detector with my LTCF in my outstretched hand. The Deputy asked me to enter the detector and I stated that I was armed. He and gave me a disgusted look, hooked my elbow and escorted me to the office. He then motioned to the OIC that "This guy has a gun". The OIC asked in a friendly tone "Would you mind stepping over here and put your weapon in the safe, please". I complied and went about our business.
While waiting for the permit my wife told me that the other Deputy there, a female, made a statement about how she doesn't understand why someone would come into the Courthouse armed. On the way out I got my gun and holstered it, wished all the officers there a Merry Christmas and asked the OIC to come with me. I told him I was going to explain to the female officer why I did what I did. He was shocked that she had made that statement, and did accompany me out the door. I told her what and why I did what I did and he chimed in about not ever criticizing anyone about carrying opened or concealed if legal. He then shook my hand and offered me seasons greetings and walked me to the exit.

Sounds like the OIC has his/her head on straight. So you gonna buy the wife somethign sexy to carry around? Or does she already have something.

I'm getting her a LCP . The more I think about it that little piece might have too much recoil for her. If she wants to carry I might let her carry my P232.
I really wanted her to have her LTCF so she could put my weapon in her purse when I'm trying on clothes or if I have to go into a restricted area and she will be waiting in the car.Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass..It's about learning to dance in the rain.

Re: Good and Bad on the front line
She should shoot an LCP. While I'm figuring out I'm not as recoil sensitive as some, it's not a concern for me, or a couple other folks that have fired mine.
PS: Don't buy an "In Recall" version. Gun shop owner here has two in stock that are recalled.

I've found that the recoil from those smaller weapons is more a " Severe stinging" sensation than anything else.
