She has a little Jennings 6 shot that ftf, fte and fires on its own. Its a real p.o.s.
anyone know of a model that has a higher capacity and functions correctly for under $200?Last edited by 556slinger; October 13th, 2009 at 09:04 PM.

A Beretta 22? Just a thought. Might find one second hand for less than $200

I have a Tarus P22 & it never fails to work with whatever ammo I put into it. It is small, easy to operate(filp up barrel to load and unload) and cheap. The sights are non-existant on a sunny day, but it is pointable. Unfortunately it is only a .22

I've got a Beretta Bobcat and if she's determined to stay with .22 I'd recommend it as a good choice. The gun comes to hand very nicely and is surprisingly accurate. There are always a handful available on Gunbroker.

Hello Iron,
Not to support the idea, but ... when I was about 7 -8 yrs. old, my Grandfather came home hours prior to my Dad and Uncles from bear hunting in Pike County ... they finally got back with his bear in tow.
" Hey Grandpop, did you scare him to death, there's no hole in him " ... " I just shot him with the .22 son .. not much of a hole "
His bear dropped in its tracks with that .22 thru the eye ... my first handgun bear took a .44 240 gr. Nosler thru the side/shoulder in the same swamp ... my bear went about 75 yards with an exit wound that I couldn't cover with my outstretched hand.
... it's all where you put it.
Looking for something as you are and being stuck on the caliber, I'd be looking for .22 WMR ... let us know how you make out in the search.
Take Care" For the left, Freedom IS a Fringe Idea "

+1 on the beretta but i'd also recommend the walther p22 as a possible choice. SW and Taurus both make nice 22 LR and 22 magnum revolvers that you might want to consider also. while the 22 is certainly better than nothing i would never carry it as a primary SD weapon except as a last resort. just out of curiousity why's your wife stuck on 22?
