Re: What do I need to do to be able to carry?
congrats on the move !!
first you will need to contact the sherriff's office in the county you live in,once you have moved.. depending on the county it can take up to 45 days to recieve it, and the cost is anywhere from $25 bucks on up....
i suggest reading up on the laws on carrying.. you can find great resorces right here on this sight!!Tigers love pepper, they don't like cinnamon !

Re: What do I need to do to be able to carry?
As your moving from NJ the first thing is to get your PA drivers license. You must be 21 to get a LTCF. . Once you have a PA Drivers license and address. You can apply for a LTCF. I would suggest you find someplace to live other than Philly proper. While your waiting you should read all the stickies on this site to become familiar with PA law. Quite different than NJ. You don't need a permit or anything like that to purchase a hand gun, but you will need that drivers license. Without a LTCF your rather restricted as to what you can do with your pistol as to transporting it. As long as your over 18 and not in Philly you can open carry it anywhere you can walk to. There are few places that your not allowed to have a firearm. Again, read the stickies.
add: except for Philly you apply for your LTCF with your county sheriff.

Re: What do I need to do to be able to carry?
Congratz on the move. Get familiar with PA laws. Like mentioned before, read the stickys. Once you move here and have proper ID to prove it you can open carry (OC) everywhere except Philadelphia (1st Class City). The stickies will help with what that means. Any concealed carry (CC) in the state will require a LTCF.
If you move to Philadelphia, you will need a LTCF or a permit/ccw/etc, from a state that have reciprocity agreements with PA to OC/CC.
There is much more, but spend some time reading and searching. Rep sent for educating yourself.Lest we Forget Sector 7 ZRT Join the Team

What part of Pennsylvania are you moving to? I am in South-central PA and don't feel the need to carry, open or concealed!

Any mission, any conditions, any foe at any range.
Twice the mayhem, triple the force.
Ten times the action, total hardcore.
