Default OC spray use by date?

So I have an old OC spray that sits in my car.. The expiration date was probably about 2 years ago. Anyone know of a good way to test it to make sure its still good? I'm almost 100% positive the OC is stable but anyone have any fun suggestions?

buy a few cases of beer, and call up some of your less intelligent buddies to drink it, then, propose to them a bright idea.....

Step 1: Find a well ventilated area. I like to use my boss's office or my wife's bathroom.

Step 2: tape a piece of paper to the wall. or use your wife's TP as a target.

Step 3: shake can briefly, then spray target.

Step 4: Sniff. If your sinuses get irratated, it still works.

No, actually the expiration date is more for the propellant and rings/seals on the can. If it still sprays out, it should work. Just make sure you shake it up first.

What he said. only way to check is to spray it. I had a can a few years ago that went bad on me (carried it on duty for Lord knows how long, luckily I did not have to use it) and didnt realize it until I sprayed it to check it. Nothing came out, the propellant went bad.

Check it - the sooner the better, lest you need it and it doesnt work.

Some colognes would pass this test.

OC is cheap enough, you should replace it when it expires. You don't have the opportunity to see how many 'rounds' are in the can, so rely on the manufactures instructions.

    imho,

    step 1: THROW IT AWAY

step 2: go spend $10 on a new can of OC spray.

sheesh, just chuck it and buy another already.

If it was me I would buy a new can, and use the old can to practice spraying with ear to ear or eyebrow to mouth. Not may people get a chance to practice with oc so use this to your advantage........Just my 2 cents Joe

Your date shouldn't be using OC spray on you. Try not to give her a reason.

If you are keeping it in the car, I can almost guarantee you risk failure or reduced performance well before the expiration date on the can. Interior temperatures of your car can exceed 100 degrees easily, in the summer, thus accelerating the breakdown of components that were designed to be stored at room temperatures.

Thanks for the answers guys... I forgot how cheap it actually is so I'm just gonna order another can from galls or something. I still think I might try to find one of my friends thats stupid enough to "test" it during a party... Last party we had at my house people started tasing themselves w/ my roomates taser.. Funniest thing I've ever seen...
