Gesinger Medical Systems...
IS anyone else getting really annoyed that Obama keeps using Geisinger as the hospital with a low cost of care in rural PA and all other hospitals should be the same as them?
The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.
Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

Re: Gesinger Medical Systems...
I sat and watched the Pa. House debate on (I think) HR1 bill that would ask insurance companies to pay an additional 2% tax hike, and the house passed it!!!!!!!
I couldn't believe what I was watching. Half of those idiots weren't even paying attention to what was going on. They just blindly voted!!! One guy in the background was TEXTING someone!!!
I really don't think I'll watch that again. It really got my blood boiling.
Sorry to steal your thread, but it was about the health care system, and they did make mention to Geisinger when they were talking about that bill.
Hopefully it won't pass the Pa. Senate, because if they raise that 2% tax on insurance, you KNOW who's gonna have to pay for that!!!

Re: Gesinger Medical Systems...
you should probably not watch CSPAN then... I saw them doing arguments the other day concerning the Cap and Trade in the house... and I bet 3/4 of the reps weren't even there... unreal.

Re: Gesinger Medical Systems...
I think healthcare costs would dramatically decrease if the government quit sticking its nose in.
That an insurance companies simplyfied things. It's a bitch trying to translate that crap into actual cost to the customer/patient.
I usually take a SWAG or use our cost calculator on the computer system (which I was told I'm not really supposed to use but I don't care)

He's kidding right? Has he tried to pay for treatment there? I'm sorry but $100 for a TSH test is not low cost. Sure the doc herself gives me a cash discount (sometimes) but the labs and tests are full charge (bloated Ins. charge that they only pay 40% of).
PMC excepts all state insurance as well. Have you ever gone to the ER, it's packed with sniffles.

Re: Gesinger Medical Systems...
I use to think lab test costs were way overcharged. After starting to work in a clinical lab I found that reagents, controls, calibrators, personnel, and especially instruments are not cheap items.
I have to think about healthcare changes in the way of how they will effect my paycheck. The current economic state has not been kind to our hospital system I know that. Luckily they didn't cut anyone from the lab, because we are already stretched thin as it is and stressed as it is. Any fewer workers and patient safety becomes a HUGE issue."Unus ut caput capitis"

Re: Gesinger Medical Systems...
Yeah, I am.
I could tell horror stories about that place.
A few years ago, my dog ran away on me, and I slipped on ice, doing something to my knee. Several days later, I couldnt move it without bringing tears to my eyes, so I went to their ER. They took an X ray, said its just swollen and sent my on my way with an anti-inflammatory and told me to take tylenol for the swelling.
Days go by, still hurts like hell, so I ask for a referral to a specialist (NOT at Geisiner). He took a look for about 30 seconds and told me I tore cartilage and needed surgery. (This was backed up by my sister, who is a physician's assistant for an orthopedic doctor.) Way to go, Geisinger.
On April 1st, this year, my wife gave birth to our first child. She was born a month premature and the doctors gave us EXPLICIT instructions NOT to let her around ill people of ANY degree. Okay, no problem. They released my wife and daughter from the hospital on Thursday and gave us a follow up appointment for Saturday.
Lo and behold, saturday is walk in day at their clinic. We waited for 2.5 HOURS in their waiting room with sick kids who had runny noses, coughing, etc. etc. We complained, so they put is in an exam room where we waited for another 2+ hours.
They are a joke."The rifle is the weapon of democracy. If guns are outlawed, only the government will have guns. Only the police, the secret police, the military. The hired servants of our rulers. Only the government-and a few outlaws. I intend to be among the outlaws." (Edward Abbey, "The Right to Arms," Abbey's Road [New York, 1979])
I have my rifle. Do you?
