Why buy stripped AR lowers?
Why some people buy stripped AR lowers by dozens? If ARs are banned then one already owns (technically) 10 ARs and can build them later after the ban? Or all AR parts will be banned?

Re: Why buy stripped AR lowers?
If AR's were banned by the Feds tomorrow there would still be parts selling espically in the current market which is flooded spicifically with AR parts and accessories. Technically one would still be able to private transfer a lower to another in PA so they are a excellent investment if your getting them cheap.

Re: Why buy stripped AR lowers?
This actually came up in a conversation I had with a fellow forum member this past weekend. Basically, I consider stripped lowers as the "precious metal" component of my retirement portfolio.

Re: Why buy stripped AR lowers?
IIRC, the last ban had language indicating that if the lower wasn't already assembled into a prior-to-the-ban config, it wasn't a legal pre-ban and could never be a pre-ban.
This whole ban thing was a result of too many gunowners pursefighting over bolt vs semi vs lever or AR vs AK vs Colt vs BMC and not keeping an eye on the REAL enemies and their bureaucratic minions that were put into office purposely or by our own inactions by NOT voting.
Douchebag Wolf has already stated he would've signed a CT-like ban if he were gov.
Which is why folks are buying stripped AR lowers. All of my guns are lubed with BACON GREASE.

Re: Why buy stripped AR lowers?
Well, sort of. Really 30% of it is because our side is apparently so disorganized we don't effectively push pro gun legislation hard enough to get it signed so that the other side is too busy trying to stop us to have anti gun goals to even push. 65% because our side doesn't push to wipe out the roots of the other side so there isn't another side there to fight the next year. We could eradicate the anti gun political side completely from PA if we did what is necessary, but people don't get off their butts because they're shy, moronically spout the "don't want to get into politics" line, don't know what they want or don't see the problem, etc.
Yes, we could wipe out the anti gun side forever in the north east by doing the following CONSTANTLY EVERY YEAR:
1. Establishing gun safety courses in ALL schools, making them part of the cirriculum and eventually having rifle (even just air gun) teams there. This would nuke the anti gun movement right at its origin.
2. Getting campus carry law w/ complete coverage (not exclude dorms, buildings, etc.) passed so universities CANNOT exclude, punish, or even intimidate lawfully licensed LCTF holders as either student or faculty. This would break the anti gun ideological presence in its other chief breeding ground.
3. Have pro gun tents/displays at as many community cultural events and parades as possible--art shows, 4th of July parades, 5k/10k races, football tailgating, Mushroom Festival, etc.--particularly in major metro area suburbs.
4. Cork boards and other guerrilla marketing. BE VISIBLE EVERYWHERE, especially where we presently are not and need to be the most.
5. Get employee parking lot protection signed into law so that the majority of people who don't CCW because of day to day practicality can. Get our numbers to 20-30% instead of 5.
Why must our side be the shy ones? Why must we take no for an answer? We should be making the CeaseFire/HeedingBloomberg'sCall people be ashamed to show THEIR faces.
But anyway, back to the topic of stripped lowers. Well, for me it's a means of stocking up for future kids. My grandpa bought 7 pre-64 model 70 Winchesters so that every one of his sons and sons in law could have one plus a couple for grandkids. I'd like to do that for mine. I cannot do it all at once, but I can buy 2-3 lowers, parts, and an upper here and there.Last edited by Yellowfin; September 24th, 2014 at 09:34 AM.

Re: Why buy stripped AR lowers?
DSA, case one of two, 50 per case.
Bad thing is we paid too much for them now that the market is flooded.
At the time it was a good price, now with Anderson selling theirs for under $50 and sometimes under $40 for blems, we'll just sit on them.
The missing ones in the box I have used for my own builds.
