Need new sights for a Springfield 1911A1..
I want to replace the sights on my SA 1911A1, and wanted to see if anyone had suggestions. I really would like to steer clear of machining. What are your thoughts?

unfortunately, most of the time the slide does need to get machined. It'd be nice if everyone was on the same page and made sights to fit the gun, but with every different company making them, it ain't gonna happen.
If your slide was machined for adjustable sights, your a little limited.
What type of sights do you have, and what do you want in new sights?
Warren Tacticals and Heinies get a thumbs up from me. I find the serrations distracting on the Heinies, but many don't.

I don't know which model you have, but as far as the sights, I have a set of Springfield Armory factory Novak 3-dot night sights that I can let go for pretty cheap...I'm not using them and they were only on the gun for about a month.

Re: Need new sights for a Springfield 1911A1..
It is the GI .45 model. It currently has the low profile military factory sights on it. I'm looking for something a little easier to eye up. I find that these give me a bit of a problem especially if there isn't very good lighting. I haven't thought too much about what I want on there, just wanted to look over some of the options.
Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, you're pretty limited for a good quality set of sights that looks good after it's put on. The front tennon offers more than than the rear dovetail... check out www.brownells.com to see what you can find.
