From the Press Enterprise out of Bloomsburg. Anybody else see this? Anybody else considering going? BTW, I am in no way affiliated with anyone associated with the article, just saw it and will be in the area tomorrow and am considering stopping by.

Gun rally slated in Danville

DANVILLE — Gun owners are planning
a demonstration at the corner of
Route 11 and Route 54 here Saturday as
part of a nationwide Gun Appreciation
Day.
Local organizer Brock Hoyes, 40,
Danville, said they are looking for a
peaceful demonstration in support of
Second Amendment rights, not arguments
or political debate.
They will hold the demonstration
from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., and participants
can come and go as they please,
Hoyes said. They don’t expect anyone
to stay for the full six hours.
Hoyes and some friends decided to
organize the event after hearing about
Gun Appreciation Day, scheduled
for two days before President Barack
Obama takes the oath of office for a second
term, one in which gun control is
set to be a priority.
Hoyes said he could not find any
mention of a local rally on the Web,
so he decided to organize one. He
and friends have been making phone
calls and spreading word on Facebook.
Hoyes said the idea is to “show
support for our Constitution and
states’ rights, as laid out in the Bill of
Rights.”
Earlier this week, President Obama
laid out a wide-ranging proposal aimed
at reducing gun violence. It includes
universal background checks and a ban
on assault weapons, magazines larger
than 10 bullets and armor-piercing bullets.
It also calls for funding for programs
for police officers in schools and
psychological counseling for children
and young adults troubled by mental
health problems, drugs, trauma and anxiety.

Myself an a few other friends will be attending. My plan was to head to Harrisburg but due to conflicting issues (wife has made plans for me) I am only going to be able to attend the Danville Rally.

I'm hoping that the people attending will be respectful, present facts and show people who are against gun rights, that we are not the nut jobs that media and many politians portray as.

Hoping other members from PAFOA who are not attending The Harrisburg event show up.

Funsized and I stopped in at the rally for an hour or so to lend our support and talk to the good folks who took the time to organize the event. We also handed out some flyers to the demonstrators in the hopes of getting a few more members here and for FOAC. No issues with LEOs since there was an off duty Danville officer and two commissioners with us. WNEP and a couple of newspapers were covering the event. WNEP coverage is linked below.

I was there for a couple hrs, seemed pretty relaxed with a lot of good conversations about firearms. I would have preferred that there was a bit more organization but still feel the overall event went well.

Plus side to the event was I found out about a local shooting club that I will be joining.
