self defense class
Hi I'm in the montco/upper bucks area and am new to concealed carry and want info where to take a good self defense class to help me get used to it and train how to use my weapon should a situation arise. I currently have a fobus paddle holster for my glock 23, but am wondering about these "iwb's" I keep reading about any suggestions?

Talk to Jason Schafer, a PAFOA member, at training@jsholsters.com, he runs a variety of classes and one will fit your needs.
An IWB is an "inside the waist band" holster, the gun and holster fit between you and your pants. Provides more concealment, not good for fat people.Attorney Phil Kline, AKA gunlawyer001@gmail.com

Re: self defense class
you just missed the best self defense class given this year by Massad Ayoob in Harrisburg, save your money he will be back next year. nothing against other instructors, I am sure they are good
also join the armed citizen network
http://www.armedcitizensnetwork.org/
surprised gun lawyer is not a member???
see they provide a lawyer on your behalf ( free). if you take Mass Ayoob class he testifies for you free of charge. yes the network is $ 80 a year and Ayoob's class is $ 800 money well spent.

Re: self defense class
I know nothing about this network.
However, my experience (and everything I've heard through the grapevine) about any OTHER pre-paid legal type entity has been bad. Not just slightly bad, but godawful bad. Do a Google search for "pre-paid legal scam", and note that at least some of these are multi-level marketing "pyramid schemes", where the money is made by recruiting lower level salespeople. The legal services provided are often poor. And a lot of the happy posts you see sound suspiciously like shill posts.
I'd seriously investigate any group that sells "insurance", see what complaints there are, how many shills are used to post fake glowing reports around the Internet. See if there are any class-action suits filed.
I also am leery of any 3rd party that's involved in the attorney-client relationship. I'm in a position where I never have to compromise the client's interests to preserve my own future business relationships, and I like it that way. Look at what happens to doctors in HMO's, where they're pressured to cut costs, run fewer test, refer to in-network specialists instead of the best of all possible specialists, etc.Attorney Phil Kline, AKA gunlawyer001@gmail.com

Re: self defense class
this organization is founded by attorneys and run by attorneys, they are working in conjuction with Massad Ayood far from a shill, you are the last person I expected to counter this. I expected/hoped you would consider lending your vast expertise and desire to assist those like minded individuals, in Pa should they require your services.
I posted a website address, for the time it would have taken to read the site you responded instead???? negatively
shame this is a great organization I will forward your response and contact info to them

Re: self defense class
I'll stand by my post, feel free to forward it to whomever you please.
Pre-paid legal plans are sort of like what fuel-saving gizmos are to the auto industry. You can find all sorts of magnets and clamps and additives and hydrolyzers that claim to boost fuel economy, but most of them are crap. That doesn't mean that all of them are, it just means that you should be skeptical of any claims in that area, because there are a lot of scams.
Re-read my post, especially the very first line. That was my attempt to tell you that I know nothing about that organization. As for any maligning of the industry, well, truth is a complete defense.Attorney Phil Kline, AKA gunlawyer001@gmail.com

Re: self defense class
Check ready aim fire in Bristol PA. Dr Richard Wigginton teatches classes there. He is on of the top instructors in the states and really knows what he's doing. He offers anything from basic NRA courses to more advanced and demanding firearms courses, gun disarm and retention as well as edged weapon fighting.
If you're looking someone to teach you how to "fight" with a gun attend on of his classes. Go to www.rafire.com and look under their training section."Owning a handgun doesn't make you armed any more than owning a guitar makes you a musician"

Re: self defense class
$800 for the class and $300 worth of ammo - worth every penny.
Massad's LFI-I class is not so much self-defense as it is knowing when the use of lethal force is warranted, and what to expect when the LEO arrives, and you're standing over a dead body holding a gun.
I think some of his more advanced classes cover some other aspects of disarming someone and defensive moves.
Check out the prices for some of the GunSite classes. They're not inexpensive either.
