Thumbs up CZ550 Full Stock in 6.5x55 (My new acquisition)

Well I had been trying to find a used CZ550 fullstock in 6.5 swede for a good while, but was unsuccessful in locating a used one. So I said to hell with my credit card debt and decided to order a new one from some random company in Georgia.

After about a month of waiting around for them to send it to me (it was in stock the whole time, but they kept forgetting to actually mail it out) it arrived to my FFL and I took it home.

Mind you, I got it about two or three months ago, but I just remembered that I never posted about it on here....

    ON TO THE PICTURES!

    Some glamor shots:

And some shots from this weekend:

My best group (the only shot that didn't make it in that 1.5" or so group was right under the plate from the same position in the previous picture)

All I can say is I can hardly wait to start reloading for this rifle. I figure with handloaded ammo I feel confident enough to hunt with irons this year. However, I will most likely throw some nice leupold glass on it since I have yet to take a deer. Time will tell.

Also, I apologize for the iphone pictures. They really do not do this gun justice in the looks department.

SSSSHHH, not so loud I've been trying to keep CZ rifles and 6.5 Swede a secret!

Seriously, congrats, It's a beauty! Really sexy looking! Did you like the single set trigger? (I believe all the 550s are equipped with them. Push the trigger forward and the trigger is set and breaks with only a very light touch.) I'd bet $$$ to donuts if you got a solid rest under the rifle and used the set trigger you'd shoot moa or tighter.

When you start reloading, 100 gr. bullets work super for varmints, but use 140grainers for deer.

I love those full stocked CZ's, beautiful rifle.

Slightly off topic, but do you post on Something Awful's TFR Ophidian? Your username as well as these pics look familiar.

Me loves those Czech guns. I only own a Czech pistol, right now, though.

Nice looking rifle. I like the looks of the full length stock. 6.5x55 is a very accurate caliber and fun to shoot. It doesn't kill your shoulder but still has a lot of power. In Sweden they hunt moose with them. Look around some of the military surplus forums for hand load data. If you can find some Prickskytte ammo give it a try. It's Swedish military ammo, non-corrosive and very accurate. It's also full metal jacket so no good for hunting.

That wood looks delicious!!! If I ever run accross a 550FS I might just have to buy it. How many rifles can you own in 1 caliber before you are accused of being a crazed maniac?

Beautiful rifle! I've coveted one of those (in that caliber) for a while now, but other (gun) priorities have put it on the back burner. Just curious where you shoot. That was a decent looking range - what little we could see of it.

    Adios,
