    Default Maybe I OC’d when I shouldn’t have?????

So…..I OC’d to my appt both time to here (Tues 12 Aug & Fri 22 Aug). http://www.thesleepdisordercenter.net/

They didn’t know it cuz I left the whole ensemble in the car……the firearm locked in the lock-box I bought from Pa Patriot and the BlackHawk Serpa tucked into the glove compartment.

Either way – I was freaked out cuz the gun was out of my direct custody for more than a ‘chore’s worth’ of time.

I went to Wal-Mart directly after both appts….. And to Borders Books before the first.

I was freaked out that my firearm was alone (though locked) in lock-box the entire night in my car.

What would PAFOA do????? I ask cuz though I wanted to be armed when outside of my house……..I wasn’t cool about the long-time separation between me and my XD!

    I did it anyway.

    What are your thoughts?

BTW – I need the darn CPAP sleep mask.

yeah, I'm told I need 1, but I don't have insurance at the moment to get a sleep study done....

I'm told they're a pain in the ass, but do honestly work and eventually you don't even have to use it anymore.

my problem is, I need to lose the weight.

I don't find the CPAP a pain and the benefit is unmeasurable. It changed my life for the better for sure!

    CPAP Changed my life.

I don't even want to take a small nap without it

Been using my for SEVERAL years... after a month of using it.. the changes were NOTICEABLE.

Man... what a good night's sleep will do to your outlook on life!

Without it... I would probably be dead by now.

You're still going to be, eventually. Apparently CPAP gives you something to look forward to.

A full night's sleep? Have no idea what that is, not with multiple dogs in the house. But, they're my responsibility, so it's my job to take care of it.

I'll tell you right now that you are 100% correct in that assumption. My old man used one for a couple of months and hated it. He asked his DR what else he could do, he said lose weight. And he did not have to lose a large amount, we're talking 10-15% of your body weight. SO if you weigh 300lbs, and lost 30-45lbs you'd be in good shape. Its not that hard either. I dropped 30lbs with him by just watching my diet and exercising 20mins a day for 2-3 days a week. You won't get any dramatic "I should be on TV" results, but you will be much healthier and able to lose that CPAP.

    Good luck

Sometimes you gotta do what ya gotta do, and being naked 1% of the time is still being protected 99%. Kudos (and reps) for having the equipment to keep your gun secured and the smarts to use it.

For you and others who don't like CPAPs. I went through a sleep study that found I had apnea and like many others diagnosed with it, weight and the extra chin or two I carried was the foremost contributing factor. At first my doc considered putting me on a CPAP, but I have a long history of insomnia including restless leg syndrome and the doc was concerned that being tethered to the CPAP might help with the apnea, but do more harm than good as far as me flip flopping all night long. The sleep specialist gave me a pill for the RLS and sent me to an oral surgeon who had an "oral appliance" custom made that would keep my lower jaw extended and the airway open so forced air might not be necessary.

It worked great. I stopped snoring, my BP went down, I slept, my wife slept, I woke up before the alarm went off, and I lost 20 pounds.

The down side was that I had to fight to have my health insurance pay for it. Even though the high, one time cost was actually lower than the long term use of a CPAP, insurance is penny wise and dollar foolish and needed a written explanation from the sleep specialist why a CPAP wasn't prescribed. The upside is that I've heard (but not seen) that they sell them over the counter now. Just like an atheletic mouth piece, you get it hot, put it in your mouth so it molds around your teeth, and let it harden. There's a mechanism that allows you to turn a screw that gradually increases the distance which the lower jaw is kept forward. If your jaw is held too far forward you wake up with a jaw ache, but starting out in a natural position, and then moving it forward a small amount once every couple weeks prevents that.
