Mini-14 Twist Rate and Performance
The serial number on the used Mini-14 I bought shows it was made in 1994, which means it has a 1:7 twist in the barrel. Anybody know how this affects performance if at all as compared to say, a 1:9 twist? Thanks, just curious.

It will prefer bullets in a 70+ grain range, preferably near 80grains......but it will shoot bullets down to 50 grains well enough....just not as accurately.
Every gun is different, but that's a general place to start.

Re: Mini-14 Twist Rate and Performance
Thanks, guys. I see 62 gr. sold a lot alongside the 55 gr., so I should at least start with that...
