Re: mag questions
Keeping the spring under compression does not shorten the life of the spring. Cycling the spring shortens the life of the spring.

Re: mag questions
Fully loaded, empty, or half loaded is all the same when it comes to storage.
Loading and reloading the mag is when the spring "wears".
If you want to leave your mags fully loaded, then go ahead, it won't hurt them.
If you are worried about the springs, just buy some replacements just in case, although you will probably never need them. Brownells will have the Glock and AR springs, don't know about the Walther.
When I was shooting USPSA matches, all of my mags were let fully loaded for a week or more, and weeks or more in the winter, this on top of being loaded and reloaded probably at least a couple hundred times a year, I never had collapsed springs except when using +2 extensions on my Para mags.
If you are using factory mags, load em and forget em.
