    Default Metal over Polymer

Okay, the recent S&W 4006 is the first all metal gun I've bought in a while, other than my grandfathers High Standard HD-Military the only one I own.

I'm finding I like shooting the metal gun vs my polymer guns more and am thinking of trading my poly's in for metal guns. But I really hate the thought of trading my XD's, the other two I don't really care. But I like my XD's.

Are metal guns that much easier to shoot than the polymer guns because of the extra weight?

Possibly. I was raised on metal guns, so I don't much care for the polymer Glocks, XD's and such. The closest thing I've got is a HK USPC in .357 sig, which is my ccw gun and I love it, but that's only a polymer frame. If you like the metal guns better, sell or trade for some. Haven't you heard? It's cool to be old school.

It's not really metal versus poylmer...it's weight distribution. This gun with a bull barrel and full dustcover still weighs less than a standard Government 1911.

I think a big part of it might be that all the plastic guns I've fired have been some variant of a striker fired gun, and they all seem to have crap for triggers. The polymer flexes, also, which may contribute to slightly less accuracy, I suppose. Makes for pleasant shooting guns, though, which may actually make for better practical accuracy.

You might be right, the Polymer one I like to shoot the best is a Ruger and has a hammer instead of the striker fired. But yeah, it does have a crappy trigger.

The only plastic that can go near the gun is a credit card to purchase a new metal one
