I thought I knew all the rules on LTCF but...
Hello all. This is my first post but my lurking and studying the great information on this site goes back over a year. It is a wonderful site!
After careful research, thorough reading, and downloading the famous PA gun rights brochure I thought I knew it all. I thought I knew everything there was to the PA LTCF laws until last week. I received my permit (Cumberland County) and was given a blue flier ("Information for Pennsylvania Firearms Purchasers and Basic Firearm Safety") and a white card with some curious information. And I quote:
"...Your license to carry a firearm is subject to revocation. Here are some things you should consider:"
[skip to #2 of the 8 items listed]
"2. Your firearm MUST be concealed at all times. Overt and unnecessary display of your firearm in public places can cause alarm and adverse reactions by your fellow-citizens, and create embarrassing situations, which could result in revocation of your license..."
Oh, really???
So OC is legal in PA WITHOUT a license, but my sherriff is telling me now that I have a LTCF it can be revoked by exercising that right and carrying openly?
Is it possible my own sheriff does not understand the law? Please chime in.

Some sheriffs have been known to pass on bad info...
For example:
From your sheriff's website:
Safety and Law Enforcement Officers
For the safety of our Law Enforcement Officers and the aversion of embarrassing situations, please remember these important tips:
* When dealing with Law Enforcement Officers, always inform the officer immediately that you are carrying a weapon and keep your hands in plain sight.
* If carrying concealed and you are pulled over on a traffic stop, again, immediately inform the officer and keep both hands on the steering wheel and in plain sight.Last edited by mrjam2jab; November 22nd, 2009 at 08:15 PM.

Yes, the Cumberland Sheriff is anti-OC.
That card would be best used in a litterbox.
BTW, papuppyowner, you have a low post count, to be stealing my pic......

Just because hes a LEO doesn't mean he knows anything about the 'L' part of that acronym... either that, or he's a liar.
Just because 'perfect' is impossible does not mean we should settle for 'broken'.

Your Sheriff is anti-gun and doesnt know of what he speaks that card is good for one thing, Picking the food from your teeth. LTCF, does not in no way shape or form mean you must conceal, you can not have it revoked for Open Carry in a leagl fashion.
