What is the best way to lub a slide rail?
Do you need special rail grease or is gun oil ok?

I recommend regular Weapon Shield oil or Weapon Shield Grease for heavy duty applications.

I use a very, very small amount of Tetra grease on rails & wear parts. Oil is better than nothing if you don't have grease.

Re: What is the best way to lub a slide rail?
Man, I am sitting here at work and just got done applying some WS Grease to my Ruger KP89! It is light and easy to manipulate into those hard to reach areas. I used a WD40 straw to apply. After putting the gun back together and working the slide several times, I noticed that the slide operation was even better than with just the regular WS CLP. It just feels damn good! I love it!
Hell Fire agrees...he worked the slide so many times that I'd be concerned if I knew it wasn't being protected by WS's ABF Technology! LOL

Re: What is the best way to lub a slide rail?
to some extent, it will likely depend on the specific gun. some guns will like heavy greases better and some will like thin oils better. some won't care if you lube them at all.
i am also a fan of FP10 and weapon shield...and mobil 1 synthetic wheel bearing grease.F*S=k

Also depends on the temps you are carrying the weapon in. Greases do get stiff when it is cold.
Just a factor to keep in mind.

I use Hopps gun oil, then barricade spray then I put a very light coat of dow 33 where the rails on the slide connect with the trigger frame
