Reloading ??????
Thinking about reloading all ready have a reload press but not really seeing a great savings in it.I hate to say but with Wal Mart Winchester white box in
.45 going for $35.97 for 100 rounds ,thats $0.36 a shot.Hard to reload with those prices.I ll just buy up that until they run out.Anyone reloading know of a secret place to buy for less a shot. Thanks in advance.

Re: Reloading ??????
Instead of posting in general try the reloading section and the stickies posted there. I reload 45 acp for about 11 cents a round.

Re: Reloading ??????
Try casting your own, I don't know cost per round but I only pay for powder/primers. With a 6 cavity mold I can knock out 500 to 600 in a couple hours. My lead is paid in "sweat equity"- I get all I want from my local range.

Re: Reloading ??????
I reload .45ACP for about four cents ($.04) a round. I use powder that I also reload 12 guage with. I melt down tire weights that I get for free and casings I find on ranges. I only pay for the powder and primers and my time...so it comes out to about 4 cents a round.

Buy in bulk and shoot lead.... I'm at .12 a round.
I'd like to get into casting and save some more.

Re: Reloading ??????
I find the "cheapest" ammo like Win. White box to be inconsistant as hell, hard to practice with ammo that goes all over the place.
My cheapest .45 plinkers are running me about .12 cents (depending on bullet). They are consistant, accurate and the load was developed for my gun.
Pistol brass lasts just about indefinately, I have .45 brass I don't have any idea how many times I have reloaded, and can barely read the headstamps anymore.
The biggest savings are when you buy components in large bulk quantities.
I haven't purchased any centerfire rifle or pistol ammo (other than 7.62x54 surplus) in about 4 years."Disperse you Rebels! Damn you! Throw down your Arms and Disperse!" British Major Pitcairn at Lexington April 19, 1775

Re: Reloading ??????
One factor of reloading costs is the time spent in casting and reloading process. Another is the extent of cost in the reloading equipment.
One article, regarding the cost of reloading and having nothing to do with time spent, states that many reloaders go overboard in the cost of reloading equipment making the cost effiency a lot more ineffective. The main factor, as far as I am concerned, is the number of times one shoots during the course of a year that makes reloading or purchasing factory ammo a major consideration.
In my situation, I go out shooting a few times a month. I save my brass and ship it to a commerical reloader that sends me back loaded ammo for a very reasonable cost. This factor includes consideration of the shipping costs.
