    Default State/Nat Lands

I know this question has been discussed in the past but I haven't seen any updates since the new administration took office. Can you CC in on State and/or National lands?

Be aware that the Army Corps of Engineers doesn't allow OC or CC in their "parks" except in designated hunting areas. Most "parks" around the lakes formed by dams are controlled by ACES.

Really? I didn't know. I take the dog running/walking at the Union City Dam. The sign says "built by the Army Corps of Engineers". There is NO sign anywhere that states "no firearms".

So for us (me and Rocky).......no firearms? No park!

ETA: I just googled Union City Dam, and of course it gave me all the Dams in PA run by the Army Corps of Engineers. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in any site regarding firearms.

It depends on if Army Corp of Eng's transferred ownership to a state or federal entity. They do alot of work on federal, state and local level projects - sometimes only getting a placard denoting their activity.

Who owns the park/dam now is what matters..

Kyle Lake here in JeffCo was a former Army Corp of Eng lake with a dam and dike. Its now a DNCR and PA F&B lake now though and follows state rules/laws.

I've often wondered about this. I asked this question some time ago and I think I never got an answer.

Like you posted most dams and levies are ACES property, and are often utilized as walking paths.

This is the only site which talks about firearms. However, its regarding hunting.

    http://www.lrp.usace.army.mil/rec/re...dwa.htm#UnionH

    Says absolutely nothing about "carrying".

it is important to understand that there are many different types of "state lands" and many different types of "national lands" and that each type can have different rules and regulations (which, in some cases, are essentially laws).

for example, it is legal, in PA, to carry openly or concealed in state forests (and, for open carry, you do not need an LTCF). in state parks, however, you must carry concealed and you must have an LTCF.

Thanks for the info. I thought we were a free society. The restrictions are ridiculous.
