Default Is it my obligation not to show open support for Trump?

Do any other CC/OCers feel this way? Around my neighborhood, Trump isn't liked, and I've heard of incidents around the country of people wearing Trump paraphernalia getting roughed up. I won't wear anything that says Trump, put a Trump Banner on my lawn or a Trump bumper-sticker on my car, because I feel like I'm just inviting trouble by doing so. I've read about people's houses being trashed, their cars being vandalized and most disturbing, being physically attacked for showing any kind of Trump support. But seeing that I carry whenever I'm out, I feel that I must avoid instigating these kinds of reactions (though unjustified on their part), so that I don't involve myself in a situation that could turn deadly. Many may disagree, but I would rather keep my support a secret in order to avoid a possibly fatal situation just because I wore a Trump hat, or whatever. It's sad that you can't openly show your support for your own candidates anymore, but these are the times we now live in. Isn't it wonderful how Obama (and the wonderfully tolerant left) brought everybody together?
I'm not copping out, I just don't want to be forced to defend myself for openly supporting a candidate. Even if I wasn't carrying, I still don't want to possibly loose my life over it. I'll just speak at the voting booth. But isn't it funny that you don't hear of Hillary supporters being treated this way? I just feel that since I'm in the "basketful of deplorables", I need to take the high road.

You have been intimidated. The propaganda worked. Too bad.

I wear my Trump hat and OC and CC. I will not be intimidated by the anti Trump crowd. If they so choose to attack me they face the consequences. I have no problems defending myself or putting someone in the Hospital.

Intimidation is a real and present danger. Like extortion, to address it requires a judicial system that cares and has the resources to apply against those willing to intimidate or extort a particular action from their fellow citizens.

Our present system, overwhelmed by recidivism caused by it's own refusal to actually deal appropriately with criminals, has little time or interest in the inconvenience of petty crimes (<<as they see intimidation). But, removing or vandalizing political signs on private property is a direct assault on one of the founding principles of this country, free speech. However, there can be a HUGE double standard as to WHO gets supported in their demand for justice in these matters.

In general, most Americans believe in live and let live - but there are those (from many different political persuasions) who are not satisfied to simply make up their own lives, but insist on imposing their lives (or values) on others. It is these people who physically interfere with their fellow citizens living their own lives as they see fit.

In some places, like the OP suggests, the number of these Socialist Thugs is high enough to make it very costly to exercise any free speech that is counter to their preferred mantra. With a lot of BIG PROBLEMS to address, these every day 'annoyances' (which for the OP and many others could be SIGNIFICANT interference in their lives) are simply not important to our system of justice. But in reality, these EVERY DAY ASSAULTS are changing the very fabric of our society.

OP - I feel for you...

Maybe try to rally others in your neighborhood, of whatever political persuasion, who understand and respect real free speech, to watch out for each other and your property, so as to minimize the effects of those who are the Socialist Thugs, who can't tolerate any opinion other than their own...

There is no moral imperative that you publicly declare who you politically support...

If you want to do so, you could try putting up a sign and see what happens - The media tends to make mountains out of mole hills, especially with bad news - Maybe your perception is wrong about the kind of neighbors YOU have?

No offense, but being cowed by bullies is not "taking the high road". It's taking the easy way out.

One of my biggest problems with this political campaign is the sheer thuggery exhibited by supporters of Hillary. When the media reports on these types of attack, they imply that it's Trump's fault for holding unpopular views. In actuality, Hillary is more or less as unpopular but not plagued by the same level of thuggery. Douglas Adams, the creator of the Dilbert comic strip, wrote in his blog that he is endorsing Hillary for his own safety because he gets death threats every time he says anything positive about Trump. I don't OC, but I do think that the thuggery inspired by Hillary and her "deplorables" rhetoric needs to be outed and curbed.

The mainstream media, and our government agencies are pulling for Hillary and demonize Trump, therefore it is OK to abuse Trump supporters but not vica versa. It is very hypocritical, and plane wrong. Welcome to the New World Order, globalized America.

My moms a rabid anti Trump liberal, we had an argument last night about how hillary supporters were beaten up inside Trump rallies. I asked her who started the attacks and violence? I asked her if she has seen the videos where Trump supporters are beaten, pepper sprayed and spit on while police sit there and watch. She said no She didn't see any of those. I told her a lot of them are taken down as fast as theyre posted because the people who run Youtube, google or Facebook are anti Trump liberals who don't want any negative press on their party of diversity and inclusion.
