Default want to go shoot tonight--Philly area

Figured this would be the best place to post (more traffic). My plans for the evening cancelled on me and I want to try to get some shooting in tonight to try out some noob guns (see my post in 'Pistols' for background). Only problem is that I'm confident shooting...if someone with more experience around to make sure I'm not committing any grave errors.

Any ranges near Philly that would be ok for a, let's use the term "green as grass" (just to be on the safe side) novice, to go to without someone more experienced tonight? Decent range officer to offer some tips, decent customer service (I don't need to feel talked down to like my experience at Targetmaster so far), not too busy on a Thursday night.

    Thanks!

I would love to take you up on that, but my range closes at 8:00pm, and I only know of one other range near me, but it is a complete dump, plus I think they close at 8:00 as well. I live in downtown Philly (South Philly), and I go to the Philadelphia Archery & Gun Club. It is a really nice range, and the employees are very cool. They have a pretty big selection of handguns to rent, including Glock's, XD's, S&W's. Maybe some other time.

    See ya around,

    Sounds good.

Just let me know when you want to go.

    Oh BTW,
Saturday September 30th is "Smith & Wesson Day"
at Philadelphia Archery & Gun Club
    .
    http://www.philadelphiaarcheryandgunclub.com/

    1. S&W reps there to answer any questions
    2. A whole line of S&W guns, that you can test fire (free)
    3. All the S&W guns that day, are going to be discounted (So if you are looking to buy one, the prices are going to be good)
    4. Free range time
    5. Reduced membership fee (It would be a cheaper price to join then any other day)
    6. Free food and drinks
    7. And anyone that joins that day, will be entered to win a free S&W pistol.

I'll be at SPAG for S&W day, as well.

I tend to go pretty early. If you get there ahead of the crowd (who seem to arrive just after lunch time), you can spend a lot more time trying out different firearms. Once the post-lunch crowd comes in, you pretty much are waiting in line and are being rushed to pop off a couple of magazines.

I like taking new shooters on the demo days, because they can try out a bunch of things without incurring the costs of a regular day of shooting. Though almost invariably, when you let you do a side-by-side firing of one of the XD's, they almost always choose the XD

Anyways...maybe we should start a new thread and try and get some folks together for lunch or something.
