Openly Carrying in Philadelphia
Hi all,
I live in Philadelphia and frequently conceal carry. I recently saw what I believe was a citizen openly carrying and wanted to talk to them about their experience but the person was on the phone and seemed to be in a hurry.
I wanted to get feedback, experience , or anything related from someone who has recently open carried in the past year. Previously all I’ve read was that cops would harass or give you a hard time. I’ve also read some good laws suits that made the city retrain their officers.
Also, does anyone know of groups that organize open carry walks or private groups to join for discussions?

Re: Openly Carrying in Philadelphia
To reiterate what most here know but some may not, while open carry is legal across PA, one must have an LTCF to do so in a "city of the first class" which is based on population and which only Philadelphia meets the criteria. I have an LTCF but I would not open myself up to the abuse one will inevitably endure should one try to exercise the right in Philly. (Actually, I only CCW and don't see the wisdom of advertising being armed in any case, but that's just my personal judgement and decision.)

I have OC'd in Center City before with no issues. I wouldn't try it in North or West Philly though being that I'm a Stay Puft marshmellowy kind of white.

Re: Openly Carrying in Philadelphia
Open carry is not banned anywhere in PA. Carry in a city of the first class requires LTCF, hence needing one to OC in Philly.
That said, historical OC encounters can be found in Viper's thread:

I would not open carry in the city just because then you become a target of someone trying to steal your gun. You can't have 360 degree vision all the time with all those people around you.

Re: Openly Carrying in Philadelphia
The problem with Philthytown, as I see it is...we carry in case we need to defend our lives and I would defend someone else's if I saw the need. But I know that if I shot a hoodlum out of need, I would get the Kyle Rittenhouse treatment and there just isn't anything down there that I need that bad.
