Default Montgomery County - Lorimer Park

Well, I went there for the first time to go fishing. The stream is not for me.

I did notice that the sign said no firearms allowed in the park.

So am I guessing you can not carry in the park?

I was under the impression only the state may regulate things like this?

I am sure it has been beat to death but I did search.

The local municipalities cannot regulate carrying of firearms...but can regulate discharging of them. It's referred to as preemption. Search for that term and you'll find much info

I am reviewing the thread now. I will ask certain people what i need to do because I am not a resident in Abington or Mont. County.

You do not need to be a resident of a particular municipality to address the issue. I've traveled outside of my home area on several occasions to speak at public meetings about this issue.

I think we should address each on the list. Move down the list as a group and really organize.

l will be glad to send letters and make calls. Can we work together and create leaders for each violation area?

I do not have much experience with this other than writing my reps and senators, mayor Nutter, city council etc..

I will gladly write those municipalities we tend to address one by one. Why not?

Do we have an organizer for each one?

Letters are good, but people showing up at meetings (and the governing body knowing that they are going to keep coming back until the issue is resolved) is, IMO, a better motivator.

Once you are sure who has oversight of the park (county, township, etc), contact them and ask them for a hard copy of the actual ordinance that sets forth the rules for their parks/recreations area. It's nice to have the "official language" in hand, rather than the abbreviated version that ends up on the rules sign.
