    Default Shotgun Questions

Last thread I will make I swear

These are my remaining questions on shotguns.

    1. How much would you recommend spending on a shotgun?

    2. What are the typical advantages that usually come in buying a more expensive shotgun?

    3. Which shotguns do you recommend and why?

What and how much you spend is dependent on a number of things....

    1. What do you plan on using the shotgun for ?? Hunting, home protection, trap or skeet shooting ???

    2. What do you want to spend...

Each of these items has a bearing on what type of shotgun you should consider. Without this information it is just a guess as to what you want and how much it will cost...

Home protection is the main purpose now.

I am not very familiar with shotgun prices so I really have no idea how much that would be. I am moving out soon and I am just looking for something that would get the job done short term. Since I am spending money on a lot of other things at the moment I would prefer to keep it under 500 bucks.

Basically a cheap affective gun for short term home defense. Once I am settled down and on a schedule I will look for something more pricy and long term.

Under $500 easily. Remington 870 (870 Express) or a Mossberg 500/590 (590A1 if you want to get a really awesome shotgun for the money)...then buy ammo and practice lots with it. A shotgun course won't hurt either.

a Mossberg 500. Get one with a wooden stock, not a plastic tacticool one. If you can purchase with a slug barrel. It's shorter. Cost around $250 to $300. And you'll be able to hunt, shoot trap or skeet or alot of things with it.

Mossberg or Remington 870 slug gun. Short and to the point. You can get a longer barrel for them if you want to later.

bought my second mossberg 500 today... must say something when you own more than one of the same firearm... i plan on purchasing 2 more as well...

i have no need to spend more than 320 on a mossberg 500. now, that will be a specialized model. you can pick up a field model for 209.99 at dicks or walmart. so cost would be relative to what you are going to do with it. a new england firearms 12 ga will be around 160.00...
