First time CC in public
Before I tell my experience, I want mention this is my first post on this or any other firearm forum. I am pretty new to handgun ownership, and over the last few weeks I have learned a lot of valuable lessons from those on this site with much more experience than I. Thank you for your help!
Now for my story . . .
Yesterday I went to a nearby amusement park (NOT Hershey) with my family, and decided that this would be a good way to force myself to become comfortable carying in public. I was a bit nervous, but before long it felt as natural as the sandles I was wearing. I did have some concern that I might be printing, but nobody noticed. If they did, they didn't say anything. There was one time when one guy came up to talk to me and I though "Oh great, here we go", but instead he mentioned something about the Sloppy Joe's (Key West) t-shirt I was wearing.
The thing that left me scratching my head though, was as we were entering the park there were two security guards who searched purses and bags as we passed by. I can only assume, in this day of 'feel-good' but useless security measures, they were searching for 'weapons'. But if that's the case, why woudn't they make me lift my shirt? If they had, they would have noticed the Glock 19 neatly tucked inside my waisteband. Not that I mind, I just thought it was ironic.
Makes you stop and say hmmmmm . . .

Congrats, and welcome to the world of open and concealed carry. There's nothing more important, and momentous, then a citizen choosing to exercise a right, especially one so important.

Hey! Welcome to PAFOA. Congrats on making the big move. A few more times and you'll be just like any other law abiding citizen taking measures to assure the safety of his/her family and him/herself.
I hope you are carrying it loaded though
Al
PS: Outstanding choice of CCW.

Ah, Sloppy Joe's in Key West. Many hours and a lot of bucks went by in that place. But that was a long, long time ago. .

Congrats! Carrying becomes a very comfortable habit pretty quickly. Before you know it, you will feel naked without it.

welcome to the forum !
you will soon find that the best accessory for a carry gun is competence. Start looking into taking a training class. It would be awful tragedy for you to actually need that pistol to protect yourself or your loved ones and not be able to perform.

Re: First time CC in public
Good evening Mr. Paiste, I am fairly new to this site but not carry. I have an idea as to what park you might have gone to and I will be there myself in October. Is it a time period park? If its in Manheim, I will be there and I do conceal every time I go there. I think they are more or less looking for long, sharp weapons that are being carried by young irresponsible dreamers, not law abiding citizens. Congrats and welcome and I hope to talk with you some more on this site. Let me know if I am correct as to where you were talking about. Take care.
