A bear of a home invasion...
Continuous late night dog barking in a rural Montana home finally rousts owner to investigate. Goes downstairs to find a big black bear wandering around his living room. Runs back upstairs, grabs his pistol and shoots bear multiple times, killing it.
If you're gonna get out of bed to investigate in the middle of the night, shouldn't you already have your weapon in-hand, and maybe, preferably a shotgun? in any case, too bad the curious bear had to be dispatched. You can already see he'll make a nice rug, though, and what's with the fish...did he bring a housewarming gift?

Re: A bear of a home invasion...
I wonder if the fish was a wall trophy that he tried to eat?

Re: A bear of a home invasion...
There isn't always another way. 3-4 years ago I had to kill a skunk that was in my house here in town. There was NO way I could lure it out without getting sprayed. It had jumped out of a garbage bag that I had set on the side porch(it burrowed into the bag), which I had brought back inside because of critters. It took a grand tour of the 1st floor, then went down the stairs from the kitchen to the basement. Now the basement does have (2) doors to the outside, but where it decided to camp was between the stair and the doors. ...So I had to shoot it. Top of stairwell to about 5ft beyond bottom, .22 short to the base of the skull. Rossi model 62 pump.
It only squeaked out the tiniest of spews in the event. House only stunk like a good batch of MJ for 5 days.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515, SteveWag

He sure doesn't have to worry about that bear returning to invade his home again,I wonder how it got into the house in the first place?

That bear's not dead! It looks like it got into the fermented apples and passed out!
As an aside, where I live here on the Plateau, bears aren't something to fear, but they are a constant concern, if you have half a brain and pay attention. As such, I keep my Charles Daly Honcho loaded with #4 buckshot next to the bed, and I always throw on a pistol when I take the dog out to pee, while I'm in my jammies, at night. The dog and I bumped a bear from in between the house and garage, about 20' away, at 0300, 2 weeks ago.Sed ego sum homo indomitus
