Philly police or Harrisburg?
Who issues a Pennsylvania LTCF? I was under the impression that the state is the issuer of the license and the local police department(in my case Philadelphia) is the office through which the application is made. I was lurking around a police forum and an officer wrote that the P.D. issues the license. I know the police do a background check but I thought they are sort of the gatekeeper that one must pass through before the request goes to a state office. The LTCF is a state document, isnt it, just like a driver`s license?
By the way, this is a great site. Lots of info from helpful folks, Thanks!

Re: Philly police or Harrisburg?
with the exception of Philly from which it is issued my Philly PD...the rest of the state issues thru the County Sheriff offices.
Not sure why Philly County Sheriff got bumped...i know its in the state law..but dont know why its that way.Last edited by mrjam2jab; September 8th, 2009 at 10:55 PM.
