At the beginning of each year, my son's Boy Scout troop shuffles the patrols around and lets the reorganized scouts rename their patrol if they want to. When my son joined a few years ago, the names were the standard, Wolverines, Racoons, Bears blah blah blah. Last year, a new guy took over as Scoutmaster and noticing the waning participation, tried to come up with ways to keep things interesting, so he asked them to be a little more creative when choosing patrol names, remembering that whatever name they chose, they also had to come up with a patch or insignia for their uniform that represented the name.

Soon patrol names like Duct Tape, Chuck Norris, Metallica and Stewie were being chosen and the kids really started having fun with it.

Well, my son was voted patrol leader, and guess what name he proposed for his new patrol, which was unanimously accepted.

I'll give you hint: Here's their new patch

Luckily I bought enough patches for the whole patrol. My son hadn't thought that part out yet when he suggested the name and was showing off his patch Santa left in his stocking.

Cool, ZRT junior rangers! Now maybe we can get some girl scouts, since they tend to teach cooking and sewing and other useful things that aren't taught in boy scouts. Good job making sure the next generation is prepared.
