obtained a cc today
resident of Northumberland county, went to shireff's office in Sunbury today, filled out an application with the required references, presnted ID, (drivers lic.) clerk ran the check while I done the paper work, sat down, had picture taken, clerk printed out Pa. license to carry firearm permit and handed it to me. complete process, about 20 minuts. don't have any hand guns, but wanted to get the licence to carry firearm first, did'nt want to invest a bundle and then be turned down for the permit. reads protection. good till 2013 unless revoked sooner.

congrats... I just did the same thing on Friday. I had already printed the form out on their website, took it in, and was done in 8 min. exactly (timed in because I was curious.)

it states"PENNSYLVANIA LICENSE TO CARRY FIREARM" FOR "PROTECTION" since Pa. already has an open carry, no license required, I don't understand your question, this is the cc permit. IF I an in error with thie, will someone please enlighten me. if this license is not for cc, what the hell good is it?

grrrrrr. it's a license, not a permit. it says nothing about concealing anywhere on it, even though that's it's intended purpose. in Philly, you need it to carry, period.

It is also used to carry a loaded handgun in you vehicle. Without your LTCF you would need to keep the ammo seperate from the gun and locked.
