Tx gun owner detained after traffic stop; gun in plain view
Would you forget you have your loaded pistol is sitting out out in plain view on the passenger seat during a traffic stop? I get the guy may have been nervous but his forgetfulness nearly got him some lead poison. Unfortunately, story does not include final outcome after driver detained...

Texas does not have a monopoly on irresponsible shit-for-brains that keep unsecured firearms in vehicles.

Re: Tx gun owner detained after traffic stop; gun in plain view
I pretty sure it was legal to have a firearm in the vehicle before the open carry law. The open carry made it legal to open carry outside of the vehicle.
From the Texas Gun Law Website:
Q: Can I carry a firearm in my vehicle?
A: Yes. With the passage of the Motorist Protection Act you may now readibly carry handguns, loaded and within reach, so long as you conceal the firearm. Long guns (rifles / shotguns) do not have to be concealed and may be loaded and within reach.Last edited by JenniferG; October 24th, 2015 at 02:42 PM.
