Do businesses in DE collect sales tax?

I have business in DE on Tuesday and I have my eye a new laptop at Best Buy. For S&G I entered the zip code for Wilimington, DE, and no sales tax is coming up? Can anyone confirm? If so that's great, I'll save $50 in taxes! TIA.

Well, since Delaware is a "no tax" state when it comes to buying merchandise, I'd assume you're not gonna be paying tax.

Delaware has no sales tax. For those of us that live nearby it is a great deal. The only time you will have to pay PA sales tax is if you have an item delivered.

Yeah, living just over the border from DE makes it nice to go shopping. I miss it from when I lived in Oxford! We bought plenty of appliances in DE.

thats where i buy most of my big electronics for that very reason. cheaper booze down that way too.

I wonder how many people actually obligate themselves to pay PA a use tax? And I guess this is the state's way of getting sales tax from internet purchases? Why am I not suprised....

Nothing new. Even as far back as the 70`s PA-LCB would stake out places in NJ the sell alcohol like Norton`s Cork and Bottle then have a crew waiting when you cross into Pa with booze and no tax stamp.
If Pa thinks they are losing too much revenue they`ll start it for sales tax.

Be careful here.... with states revenue streams in the toilet I woundnt advertise your "avoiding" PA taxes anywhere. Who knows what information is being sought and by whom. Not too long ago several states went after the cigarette thing - folks buying from out-of-state Indian reservations and stuff. They were able to get the customer lists and many folks got some nasty tax-due bills. I wouldnt want to have that issue on my back.

Avoidance is legal, evasion is not.
