Any retired equipment??
I'm thinking about getting into reloading. I've read many forum posts and viewed several of the handbooks and think I'd like to try it.
Since I really don't shoot too much, I'm really trying to keep my costs down especially when I shoot 9mm and 40S&W.
So anyway my question is, has any one upgraded their reloading equipment and has something like a Lee turret press that is sitting in the corner collecting dust? I've checked out ebay and other auction/selling sites and they seem to be asking more than what it is worth when you can usually buy new at a discount.
If I was going to purchase new this looks like a nice package:

Thanks!

Sometimes you get what you pay for....when I was first considering reloading, I thought about buying Lee products. I went to better brands because Lee products not only look cheap, but more importantly they feel cheap. I know that there are literally thousands of folks that use Lee for reloading, but I would suggest buying quality the first time around. RCBS, Dillon and Hornady have very good warranties and CS. You might pay more initially for those top brands, but their products will last your lifetime. Think of reloading as an investment on your hobby. Afterall, you must trust that reloader to produce ammunition that you will fire through your weapons. That same ammunition may be asked to save your life...wouldn't you want that piece of mind of owning something you know is quality? In the end it's your money and your decision. You could always get a used RCBS press.

Re: Any retired equipment??
Since you shoot 9mm and 40 S&W you need a turret press. I bought my press from Dillon almost 20 years ago for roughly the same price as today. But then I have loaded over 100K rounds. The prie of the press is not the killer. The hurt is the supplies - boxes, primers, heads, cases, powder.
Here is the easy way, buy in stages, some this year and some next year
* buy a press, scale, puller, dies
* buy supplies as they appear cheap boxes, brass, heads, powder
Best regards,

If you are going to load for pistol only, then you should look real hard at the Dillon Square deal B. I got mine off e-bay, but if you look around, they are for sale used on the gun boards also. You should be able to get a used one for $150 - $200.
Then you need a reloading manual and a powder scale.
I still remember the feeling the first time I pulled the trigger on my own reload.
Just read the manual and follow the instructions.

Re: Any retired equipment??
I have no idea what a cheap press feels like.. but I own two Lee presses (a Loadmaster and a Challenger).
The bottom line:
ALL PRESSES ARE THE SAME. ITS UP TO YOU TO MAKE QUALITY AMMO.
To the person who would say that a RCBS is better than a Dillon is better than a Lee: BS
There are just as many posts complaining about brand X as there is about brand Y and brand Z.
It all comes down to the monkey pulling the lever. The color of the press is the LAST thing to question.
Ppl will come up with all KINDS of crazy crap to justify thier reasons.. most are, again, BS.
