Gun safe questions
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
For Christmas my parents agreed to throw money towards a safe for me.

This is the model I was considering and I was wondering if anyone had any opinions of the model or brand? Also are electronic safes reliable? I'm slightly weary of the electronics shorting out or something and me being SOL in a bad situation.

Re: Gun safe questions
Looks like a pretty good safe. Don't worry about the electronics, it's battery operated and there will be instructions on how to open it in case of battery failure. Fire resistant is always good and the weight is also a good deterent. Bolt it down (or to wall studs) and only a VERY determined (and super strong) thief will be able to steal it. Not too bad a price either. Sentry makes a lot of different safes. Got for it.

Re: Gun safe questions
looks good to me.
I have a small electronic safe, if the battery dies it comes with a key that you remove the keypad and use to open it. But when the battery gets low it has a blinking low battery indicator giving plenty of time to put in a new one.

Re: Gun safe questions
There are some real important items in a good safe. Like material thickness on safe body and door. Also how many locking pins and there Dia. And if the hinge pins are hidden. Then there is the fire rating on the complete safe.
I looked at a lot of safes and ended up with the Fort Knox 7241 Defender.

The Electronic Keypad lock is really the way to go it's been around a long time now and mine works great. Mechanical locks also can also fail so anything can happen. But if they were a problem Fort Knox would not sell the The Electronic Keypad lock and they sell a lot of them.
Any real questins about their safes call them ask for Dave he has all the answers and is there to help when help is needed.

Re: Gun safe questions
Nice safe, but it's small. Mine is the same size and I filled it in no time at all. Sure wish I had bought a bigger one. I've gotten very good at packing it full, but most of ammo won't fit. I may buy another soon. The contents of the safe weigh more than the safe. I doubt anyone could move it while it's full.
