Default Do you carry a long gun in your car?

I got to thinking after starting another thread. Do any of you carry a rifle of any type with you in your vehicle all the time? I have been thinking about it, I could put an extra rifle in there and just store it there as well as I could in my house, but if needed, I would at least have access to it while away from the house.

I know it would be more of a TEOTWAWKI scenario that would probably lead to your needing one. But in todays day and age, well, I'm beginning to think that having a rifle along with me might not be a bad idea. It probably won't be something that is "instantly" available for use. In other words. I may have to unlock it, and dig it out of a box or the trunk. But, I just wondered if anyone else always carries a rifle and ammo in their vehicle that would allow them to reach out and touch someone if they needed too?

I have had a gun rack in every truck I've owned since 1976. So yes, occasionally, more like rarely. Actually the rifle is never in plain sight in the rack if parked.
The rack is to hang hats, coats, and snow scraper. Old Marlin 336 30-30, if at all.

I currently do not. I drive a compact pick-up truck with a standard cab, so I don't have very much room at all behind the seats. If I had an extended cab, or a trunk, it would certainly be something I'd explore.

I keep an AK underfolder in the spare tire compartment of my vehicle along with 2 - 30 round magazines (separate compartments). It's no surprise to me that I've never had to use it, but it's there, just in case.

Being that it's an AK I'm sure it could also be used as a shovel, a tow bar, and maybe even a jack stand.

    .
I've checked and one of my AK's will fit there also. But I never realized all the other options it would offer me.
